After years in Early Access, Valheim finally has a launch date. Developer Iron Gate and publisher Coffee Stain announced during the PC Gaming Show that the Viking survival game reaches version 1.0 on September 9, 2026.

The Deep North closes out the map

The headline addition is the Deep North, the game's last planned biome. Expect frozen plains that look calm at first glance and turn hostile fast, with new enemies, underground areas, and fresh gear to craft once you survive long enough to find it.

PS5 and Switch 2 join the party

1.0 also marks Valheim's jump to consoles that had skipped it until now: PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 launch alongside PC, Mac, Linux, and Xbox, with crossplay across every platform. If your current save is on Steam, nothing about that changes — the update just finishes the story the game has been building since 2021.
