Sony has rolled out a new firmware update for PS5 Pro aimed squarely at improving ray tracing performance in titles that already support the console's enhanced mode.

What's actually changing

According to the update notes, studios that adopt the new performance profile will be able to ship sharper reflections and more defined shadows without giving up resolution in quality mode. Several studios have already confirmed patches for their games are on the way over the coming weeks.

Which games benefit first

The first titles to get support will be the ones already carrying the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" badge — Sony's label for games specifically optimized to take advantage of the console's extra horsepower.

If you already own a PS5 Pro, the update installs automatically the next time you power on the console while connected to the internet.
